Marcos Ambrose Looking to Move Back up the Standings at World’s Fastest Half Mile

Driver Looks to Repeat Success at Bristol in the No. 9 DEWALT Ford

CONCORD, N.C. (March 12, 2013) – Marcos Ambrose enters the weekend 16th in championship points and looks to move back up the point standings with a solid finish in the No. 9 DEWALT Ford at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway. The No. 9 team posted a fifth-place finish last fall at the World’s Fastest Half Mile giving the team confidence that they can come away with a solid top-10 finish this weekend.

Ambrose posted two top-fives and four top-10s in his eight starts at the .53-mile track and has an average finish of 16.5.

Comments from DEWALT Ford Fusion Driver Marcos Ambrose:

“Bristol will be the first time we race the Gen-6 car at a half-mile track. I’m looking forward to seeing how the cars race there. I think it will be a really exciting and aggressive race. I really like Bristol. You are up on the wheel for all 500 laps of the race. That’s the kind of racing I like and really excel at. It is definitely one of the tracks that fits my style of racing.

“The last few weeks have been tough. The cars have not been as good as we know they can be. I know the guys are back at the shop working their butts off, so we can have a good finish this weekend. We fell back to 16th in points last week and have got to get back up in the top-12. The only way to do that is post good finishes and get some wins.”

Comments from Crew Chief Drew Blickensderfer on Bristol:

“We haven’t had the results we want in the last few weeks. I know we can finish in the top-10, top-five and win some races. We just have to get there, and I think we can at Bristol. Marcos is good there, and although it’s the first time we race the Gen-6 cars at a half-mile track, I think our car will be good this weekend, too.”

Chassis History:

The No. 43 team has prepared chassis No. 784 for Bristol. The team brought the chassis to Kansas Speedway last fall where Ambrose brought home a 12th-place finish.
