IN THE LOOP… Edwards has three top-five and eight top-10 finishes at Richmond. He has led 442 laps and completed 96.7 percent of the laps he has attempted at the 0.75-mile D-shaped oval.  His average starting position at Richmond is 11.7 and his average finish is 14.9.

THE CAR… The No. 99 team will be bringing chassis RK-802 to Richmond this weekend. This is the same chassis that ran in Phoenix, sending Edwards into victory lane for his first win of the 2013 season and breaking a 70-race winless streak.

·         PRIMARY SPONSOR NOTE… Geek Squad will premier its first of four paint schemes of the 2013 season. In addition to the Geek Squad car, you can find Geek Squad Agents in the media center to assist with basic technological needs as well as with Carl throughout the weekend.

Carl Edwards on racing at Richmond International Raceway:

“It’s going be a fun weekend in Richmond.  We’ve run really well there in the past.  We don’t have a win there yet in the Cup Series, but we’ve been close.  We’re going to start the weekend off driving Christopher Wooten to school in a two-seater Roush Fenway racecar which will be really cool.  I’ll actually get to drive to the school and drop him off.  I think we have a police escort, otherwise, I’m sure we will have the police behind us!  That should be pretty fun.

Then we’ve got the Geek Squad sponsorship and partners with us this weekend so we’ve got the Geek Squad Special Agent with us all weekend, which is great.  Last time we had an agent with us we were hooking up people’s satellites and stuff in their motorhomes and he had a lot of work to do.  I’m sure everybody will appreciate the Geek Squad presence.

I get the chance to broadcast the Nationwide Series Race for ESPN on Friday night which will be a lot of fun.  It will give me a chance to hopefully watch Trevor Bayne win his first race of the season.

For us, it’s a short track so track position is important.  I’m excited to work with Jimmy Fennig.  Our package in Phoenix was very good.  I’m thinking some of that will help us with our race setup for Richmond.  Overall, just a fun weekend.”
