Panel to Feature Arizona’s Top Sports Business Executives
PHOENIX – Phoenix International Raceway president Bryan R. Sperber, along with six of his fellow leaders in sports, business, entertainment and public policy will participate in “Arizona’s Heating Up,” an innovative webcast on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 1 p.m. MST (3 p.m. EST) which will be broadcast digitally from the Royal Palms Resort and Spa.
The webcast is the second of the eight-part Sports Business Insider Series, which is moderated by national sports media personality and host of Bloomberg TV’s “Sportfolio,” Rick Horrow. Launched at Daytona International Speedway in September, the Series addresses the most current issues in major sports, both national and specific to the host region, via panel discussions with prominent sports business and media executives, and political/community leaders.
The event will be available via webcast to a nationwide audience and will address many of the issues that impact the sports business landscape in the Valley of the Sun.
“I am thrilled to kick off our AdvoCare 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race weekend by participating in the Sports Business Insider Series discussion,” Sperber said. “It is an honor to be a part of such an impressive group of panelists and I look forward to the thoughtful discussion on the current issues facing the sports business industry here in the Valley.”
Joining Horrow and Sperber in the discussion, and covering the full spectrum of timely sports business topics in the Valley of the Sun, will be:
n Doug Ducey, Arizona State Treasurer
n Brian Hogan, Senior VP and General Manager, FOX Sports Arizona
n Tom King, 2014 Waste Management Phoenix Open Tournament Chairman
n Jay L. Parry, CEO of Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee
n Michael Waltrip, founder and co-owner of Michael Waltrip Racing and two-time Daytona 500 Champion
“In Arizona as well as around the globe, the billion-dollar business of sports evolves daily,” Horrow added. “As fans become more sophisticated, sponsors become more demanding, media becomes more creative, and technology becomes more advanced, the industry must demonstrate more insight. I am excited to assist PIR in sharing ‘best practices’ and analysis with these key industry partners in the region.”
The Sports Business Insider Series attendance and Citrix GoToWebcast viewing is by invitation only, although followers of @ISCupdates, @PhoenixRaceway, and @RickHorrow will get #InsiderSeries content on Twitter during the events.
