Ready, Set, Go…The 2014 NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) season opens at Daytona International Speedway (DIS) this Saturday, February 22. Danica Patrick, who embarks on her second full-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) season this year, will be behind the wheel of the No. 30 Florida Lottery Chevrolet Camaro for Turner Scott Motorsports (TSM) in the NNS season opener. The race will mark Patrick’s third event for TSM, and will be her 61st-career start in the NNS. Veteran crew chief Mike Greci will be calling the shots from atop the pit box.

DIS Stats…Patrick, who made her NASCAR debut at DIS in 2010, has six previous NNS starts at the 2.5-mile superspeedway. Patrick has one top-10 finish, which she earned in July of 2011, and one pole, which she earned in February of 2012. In her six events at the Daytona Beach, Fla. track, Patrick has started in the top five three times and has never taken the green from outside the top 15, tallying an average start of 7.0. Patrick made her TSM debut in last year’s season opener and surged to an early lead before an electrical failure forced her to retire early and resulted in a 36th-place finish.

This Week’s Camaro…Patrick and the No. 30 team will unload chassis TSM-334 for this weekend’s race at DIS. TSM-334 utilized three times in 2013 (Daytona I, Talladega Superspeedway, Daytona II) by Justin Allgaier. Allgaier’s best finish was achieved at Talladega where he scored a fifth-place finish.

Watch and Listen…The DRIVE4COPD 300 can be seen live on Saturday, February 22 on ESPN. Race coverage will begin at 1:15 p.m. EST, and the event can also be heard live on MRN Radio, as well as SiriusXM Radio, channel 90.

Danica Patrick on driving at Daytona International Speedway

“I’ve run some really strong races at Daytona in the past, but with the racing at superspeedways being what it is, I haven’t always had the finishes to reflect how well we ran. Every time I come to one of these superspeedway tracks, I learn a little more; it really comes down to patience and being in the right place at the right time. Turner Scott Motorsports has built me two really great cars in the past, and I have no doubt the same will be true this weekend. [Teammate] Dylan [Kwasniewski] was very fast when the team came down and tested last month, and I’ve got two strong teammates to work with. I appreciate Florida Lottery coming on board and allowing me to run this race, so hopefully we’ll be able to get them into victory lane.”

Kyle Larson on Racing at Daytona International Speedway

“I’m really excited to get back behind the wheel of my Turner Scott Motorsports Camaro. We’ve got a new number and a new crew this year, but we’ve got the same amount of determination as last year, if not more. I’m looking forward to working with Scott Zippadelli throughout the season and think our personalities and racing styles will work well together. Obviously last year, we got caught up in the big wreck. I’m really glad the fans were okay, and we’re all thankful for the safety improvements that NASCAR and its tracks continue to make. I’m looking forward to getting the finish we deserve this year.”
