McClure Ready to Race in Front of Hometown Crowd

Drive to Stop Diabetes 300: Bristol Motor Speedway

Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® Racing NOTES:

LVMS Recap: Taking the green from the 30th position, Eric McClure not only battled a loose-handling car throughout most of the event, but also suffered from a speeding violation on pit road to finish the Boyd Gaming 300 in the 27th position. With this finish, the team advanced one spot to 25th in the 2014 owner standings.

Returning Home:   After racing two weekends on the west coast, McClure returns home to race at the track that closest to his home, Bristol Motor Speedway.  This weekend will mark the Virginia driver’s 230th career Nationwide Series start and his 15th at the “world’s fastest half-mile”. In 14 starts, McClure has completed 81.2% of the total laps attempted and has an average finish of 29.5. He’s also ranked 6th on the “Closer” chart, which ranks drivers based on the number of positions improved in the last 10% of laps in each race. One year ago, McClure posted a 21st-place finish after starting 24th.

Chassis No. 5: The Hefty®/Reynolds Wrap® team has chosen to utilize chassis No. 5 for this weekend’s running of the Drive to Stop Diabetes 300 at BMS. This chassis was used two weeks ago at PIR where McClure posted a 23rd-place finish.

Eric McClure Quotes:

“I’m looking forward to Bristol. I will enjoy the extra time at home this week, being able to tuck the girls in as night. Bristol has always been tough for us, but last year we had a solid run for most of the race. Unfortunately, I had to miss the fall race, so I am excited to get there and see if we can get a good result. We’re starting to climb out of our hole in points so we need a great outing. There are always many local people at the event, so it would be great to have a solid run in front of them.”

Tune-In: Saturday’s race from Bristol Motor Speedway will be televised live on ESPN 2 beginning at 2:00pm (ET).  Sirius Channel 90 and Performance Racing Network (PRN) will also broadcast the event live on Saturday, March 15. Qualifying will also be televised live on ESPN2 at 10:00am (ET).
