‘FAST TIMES’ IN TEXAS FOR EARNHARDT

FORT WORTH, Texas – Texas Motor Speedway is among the NASCAR trail’s fastest tracks, and that’s a plus for Jeffrey Earnhardt, who’ll drive the Flex Seal Chevrolet for JD Motorsports with Gary Keller in Friday night’s O’Reilly Auto Parts 300 Nationwide Series race at the 1.5-mile track.

The tricky surface at TMS rewards experience, and Earnhardt is fortunate that he has a race there under his belt as the Nationwide tour rolls into Fort Worth this weekend.

Earnhardt made his Texas debut last April and produced one of his best efforts of the Nationwide season. He started 36th but raced up into the top 25, leading a lap on the way to a 22nd-place finish.

“It’s a very fast and demanding racetrack, and I like that,” Earnhardt said. “You have to be ready to go and have everything in line from the very beginning at Texas. It’s demanding, but I love to run there.”

Two practices – 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. (ET) – are scheduled for Nationwide drivers Thursday. Qualifying is set for 4:10 p.m. Friday, with the 200-lap race scheduled to begin at 8:30 p.m.

The Nationwide race is being held on Friday night to avoid conflict with the NCAA Final Four basketball tournament, which is scheduled in Dallas.
