AUSTIN DILLON QUOTES:

What do you think about Michigan International Speedway?

“I’ve raced at Michigan International Speedway before in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, so I’m really looking forward to going back to a track where I’ve made a few laps. Last year I subbed for Smoke (Tony Stewart) at Michigan and I’ve also raced a RCR-prepared car there. It’s a fast track. I love it. I’ve had one of my best finishes in the Cup Series at Michigan. I’ve had some good success at Michigan in the NASCAR Nationwide Series. Last year we came pretty close to winning the Nationwide race, but cut down a tire. It’s a very raceable track.”

PAUL MENARD QUOTE:

What do you think Michigan will be like after the surface has aged another year?

“Before they repaved, you could run all over the place. Then they paved it and the racing groove got narrow. We had maybe two car widths on the bottom. Last year got better and this year I foresee getting better again. I know they had a tire test up there. Our teammate, Ryan Newman, participated in it, but I’m not sure what kind of tire we will actually be using. Hopefully it has a little give to it so we can move around. I definitely see us breaking a track record again. We’ve broken the track record pretty much every where we’ve gone with these new rules and car so I can see that happening again.”

Quicken Loans was named among the top-30 companies on FORTUNE magazine’s annual “100 Best Companies to Work For” list for the last 11 consecutive years, ranking #5 in 2014. It ranked in the top-15 of Computerworld magazine’s “100 Best Places to Work In Technology” for the past nine years, ranking #1 in 2013. The company moved its headquarters to downtown Detroit in 2010, and now more than 8,500 of its 10,000-plus team members work in the city’s urban core. 31 Team Tweet Up … On Sunday, members of the Quicken Loans pit crew will greet fans and give out team swag at 10:15 a.m. by the backside of the New Holland Fan Plaza, located just off the service drive.

Race Rewind … Last season, a flat tire forced Newman to relinquish his seventh-place running spot with less than 30 laps to go in the Quicken Loans 400. The unscheduled pit stop resulted in an 18th-place finish.

RYAN NEWMAN QUOTES:

Michigan is on the schedule for this weekend. What is that place like?

“Michigan is its own unique two-mile track. You really can’t compare it to places like California Speedway anymore. They’ve kind of flip flopped. Before, California was the new pavement and Michigan was old. Now, it’s the opposite. I look forward to going back up to Michigan. It’s the Quicken Loans 400 race. It’s an important race for us because Quicken Loans is one of our partners. We are still looking for our first win of the season and hopefully we can do it right down the road from Quicken Loans headquarters. There’s double the importance for us to at least have a solid run for Quicken Loans and all of their team members who will be with us this weekend and supporting us. We actually tested at Michigan a few months back as part of a tire test for Goodyear. The track is fast, especially now with the rules package so I hope that we can build upon last week’s top-10 effort.”

Sunday is Father’s Day. How special is the holiday for you?

“It was special for me to win the Michigan race on Father’s Day a few years back because my dad was there, but I hadn’t started my family yet. I won that race for him. Now I think it will be even more special to win because both my father and my two daughters will be at the track with me. Obviously now that I am a father, that’s what it’s all about. My kids are my biggest accomplishment or my trophies ,so-to-speak, so to win at the Quicken Loans 400 on Sunday will be even more special. I want to hoist that trophy with them by my side.”

BRIAN SCOTT QUOTES:

Michigan is a newly paved race track. Is the groove widening at all?

“I don’t know, but Michigan is fast and it’s smooth. It’s almost a hybrid. It’s such a big race track, but you really work on trimming your car out and getting drag out of it. And then it becomes a track position sensitive race. You really want to be up front and stay up front. It’s kind of its own monster. I’m looking forward to seeing how it’s changed over the last year.”

How difficult was it last year, compared to three or four years ago when you could run every inch of the asphalt?

“I really liked it when it was old and wore out and you could go all over the place. It really seemed to fit my driving style where I like to move around and run the high line. Unfortunately, that went away. I’m sure we will be bringing a fast Camaro and have a good race there.”

What are your thoughts on going to MIS?

“I’m excited to get in a Nationwide Series car at Michigan. I’ve had some success there in the Camping World Truck Series, so hopefully that can carry over. Our team has been working very diligent this past off weekend with our strategy moving forward, so I’m also anxious to put our hard work to test.”

What is it going to take these next 18 weeks without an off weekend to be successful?

“Endurance. I think this team is very well put together and we have the endurance to be successful. Danny (Stockman) and I have been clicking recently and we’re ready for this long stretch.”

PAUL MENARD QUOTE:

What are your thoughts heading in to your first double-duty weekend in Michigan?

“I’m looking forward to getting back in a Nationwide Series car this weekend. Double duty always makes for a busy weekend but I like getting the extra seat time, especially at a track like Michigan. It’ll be interesting to see what the track surface is like after another year of aging. I’m hoping the groove has widened even more and we can see a lot of side-by-side racing in the NIBCO / Menards Chevrolet.”

BRENDAN GAUGHAN QUOTES:

What are your thoughts on Michigan International Speedway?

“Racing for RCR, we expect Michigan to be a good place for us. We have good aero and engine packages, so you know those things will help make our Chevrolet Camaro’s run well. I miss what the track use to be, old and worn out. It was definitely more fun when you had the Michigan merge, where the guy at the bottom and the guy at the wall would come together, but I think if we just give it some time, the old track will come back. I really can’t complain how the track is now though, it is so fast. The fans definitely get the speed out of their system when they come to watch these races.”

How far along in the weekend will it take for you to figure out the grooves of the track?

“The bad part is that us Nationwide drivers normally don’t find multiple grooves as much as the Cup cars. The groove typically widens out quite a bit for the Cup race, but I am hopeful that by the Nationwide race we will have multiple grooves, or at least a second one to choose from.”
