Finishing Position: 16th
WHAT HAPPENED? “I ran over something. That pretty much sucks. We had a really good Discount Tire Ford Mustang this whole race. We kept fighting through the field and came up to the front and were having a lot of fun. Once I finally got clean air we were able to pull away. The 33 was quick and had a fast race car also. We were going to have a race because he was catching me a little bit. I could tell something was wrong on the back straightaway and then it made us go up the race track. I hate to give them away like that. You look at the silver lining I guess which is we had a fast race car and should have won the race. You win some this way and lose some this way.”
THIS KIND OF HAPPENED LAST YEAR WITH STRATEGY A LITTLE BIT. IT MUST BE DISAPPOINTING FOR THE WHOLE TEAM. “Yeah, it is a team sport so it sucks for everyone. We had a fast race car. We have next year to give it another shot again. I had a lot of fun. That is just racing for you. Sometimes you are the bug, sometimes you are the windshield. It is never over until it is over. You think you are in good shape and you are worried about a caution more than anything else and then the next thing you know you hear it starting to come apart on the back straight away. Things happen. Oh well, we move on.”
CHRIS BUESCHER, No. 60 Roush Performance Parts Ford Mustang
Finishing Position: 10th
“That was a pretty good day for our Roush Performance Parts Ford Mustang. We started off really good and got better as we went and got it freed up. I think I might have gotten us a bit too far there. We got pretty free in traffic and lost a couple spots. It is a shame we didn’t have another 20 laps because it was starting to come to us. Overall it was a really good day and I am glad to be here and glad to bring it home in one piece.”
RYAN REED, No. 16 ADA Pathway to Stop Diabetes Ford Mustang
Finishing Position: 11th
“We were pretty fast. I felt like on restarts we struggled in dirty air. I feel like that is where we needed to improve the most but once we got going we had a solid race car. You start 24th and if you have a perfect race car you can drive into the top-five but it is just so hard once you get up near that top-10 and everyone is so even and track position becomes so important. I thought that was probably our most solid day to date and we are getting better every week. I am proud of everyone and everyone back at the shop for making better race cars every week.”
DAKODA ARMSTONG, No. 43 WinField Ford Mustang
Finishing Position: 19th
“It is not really what we wanted. We knew traffic would be a little bit of a problem but we were free in traffic and couldn’t get it better. We were actually tight by ourselves, a little snug, then we freed it up and that was a mistake. It was really free in traffic. We have to figure out a way to help this thing on the restarts, not so much in one and two but in three and four when we are up to speed it is really free. We were free over the transition too. We need a little work there. Right near the end I thought was probably the best we were in traffic but it was a little too late. We will just go work on it.”
