MOORESVILLE, N.C. (August 6, 2014) – NASCAR Sprint Cup Series rookie Michael Annett and his Pilot Flying J Chevrolet SS team descend upon New York’s Watkins Glen International for the second and final road course race on the 2014 Cup Series calendar this Sunday. Though it marks Annett’s first Cup start at the 2.45-mile facility, he isn’t a novice there.
Annett scored three top-20 finishes in NASCAR Nationwide Series competition, including an 11th-place finish in 2012. In his first Cup Series start at a road course earlier this season in Sonoma, Calif., Annett and his Tommy Baldwin Racing team finished 30th after running as high as 13th and finishing the day with a positive pass differential (plus-9).
TBR crew chief Kevin Manion scored a pair of sixth-place finishes at Watkins Glen with drivers Martin Truex and Jamie McMurray in 2007 and 2010, respectively.
The race will air live on Sunday, August 10 at 1 p.m. Eastern on ESPN.
MICHAEL ANNETT QUOTE:
“I started feeling comfortable at Watkins Glen two years ago in the Nationwide Series when we just barely missed out on a top-10 finish. Anything can happen there. Stretching our fuel windows and avoiding the calamity that seems to pop up in these road course races will dictate whether or not we have a good day.”
