Dover International Speedway
AAA 400 | September 28, 2014
Monster Mile…Justin Allgaier will make his second NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) start in the No. 51 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevy at Dover International Speedway on Sunday. Allgaier’s first NSCS start at Dover was earlier this season in the AccuDoc Solutions Chevy, and he finished 26th. Allgaier has 10 starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) at Dover, with one top-five and four top-10 finishes at the 1.0-mile oval, along with 16 laps led. Steve Addington, crew chief of the No. 51, has three wins at Dover, with Kyle Busch in 2008, Kurt Busch in 2011 and Tony Stewart in 2013.
Meet Justin…On Saturday, September 27 at 1:00 p.m. EDT, Allgaier will participate in a Q&A located in the Velocity Club suite at Dover. A suite ticket must be purchased in order to gain entrance.
New Hampshire II Recap…Allgaier made his second-career NSCS start at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) last Sunday. After getting caught in a late-race accident at NHMS in July and settling for a 37th-place finish, Allgaier and the No. 51 PlanBSales.com team were looking for redemption at the Magic Mile. Despite going down two laps early in the race, Allgaier and his HScott Motorsports team rallied, fighting their way onto the lead lap and earning a 20th-place finish.
Sunoco Rookie of the Year…After graduating to the NSCS this season, Allgaier is competing for Sunoco Rookie of the Year honors in the No. 51 BRANDT Chevy. In 2009, Allgaier took home the Rookie of the Year title in the NNS. After New Hampshire, Allgaier is currently third in the standings, behind Kyle Larson and Austin Dillon.
Justin Allgaier on Dover International Speedway:
“I’m looking forward to getting back to a short track. Unfortunately, Dover [International Speedway] is a very difficult track to drive. You have to hit all of your marks perfectly or your whole lap is messed up and you lose spots in a hurry. I struggled a little bit at Dover earlier this year, and it’s never really been one of my favorite tracks, but I’ve worked with Steve [Addington] and the engineers and I think we’ve figured a few things out for this weekend.”
Crew Chief Steve Addington on Dover International Speedway:
“Dover [International Speedway] is a very difficult track for a rookie driver. We’ve come up with different things to try this weekend to suit Justin’s style better. It’s extremely important to get a good starting spot this weekend because cars get lapped so quickly. We just need another solid weekend, to log laps and bring home a clean car.
