(Port Orange, FL) Sixteen year old driver Kaz Grala will be behind the wheel for Lira Motorsports in the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards open test session on Friday, January 16th
This session is the first time the ARCA series will conduct an open test in January at Daytona, and it will be the first time Grala will turn laps around the 2.5 mile track in an ARCA car.
Grala is preparing to enter his second full season of NASCAR K&N Pro Series East competition after an impressive rookie year in 2014. The Boston, Massachusetts native finished the year seventh in the points standings, with four top five and ten top 10 finishes.
This will be Lira Motorsports first year fielding cars in the ARCA Series. The team, based near Daytona in Port Orange, Florida, is a veteran team in late model and sports car competition.
“We are excited to have Kaz in one of our cars for the ARCA test,” said Carlos Lira, team owner of Lira Motorsports. “As we build and develop our team, having drivers with experience and success is multiple forms of motorsports provide feedback from the drivers seat is a huge benefit.”
The teams efforts are lead by crew chief Teddy Brown. Brown is a veteran crew chief with years of experience and success in the ARCA Racing Series. In the last three years, he has scored 32 top five and 45 top 10 finishes, and he has several marquis victories to his name.
Lira Motorsports will field cars in the ARCA Series for drivers Michael Lira and David Levine, with plans in development to add one or two more cars. Their Ford Racing / Roush Yates Performance Fusion’s will carry sponsorship from Gary Yeoman’s Ford Lincoln. The team is seeking additional associate and primary sponsors.
