High-Performance Energizer EcoAdvanced AA Battery to Serve as Primary Partner on Larson’s No. 42 Chevrolet SS at AMS

CONCORD, N.C.  (Feb. 25, 2015) – As the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) heads to Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS) for the first race of the season at an intermediate track, and first race with the new rules package, Energizer® is set to serve as the primary partner on Kyle Larson’s No. 42 Chevrolet SS. As the race welcomes a few firsts for the season, Energizer® will also be highlighting a first. Following several years of development, Energizer® recently introduced the EcoAdvanced™ AA battery, which is a first-of-its-kind battery made with four percent recycled battery material that delivers long-lasting power while creating less impact on the planet.

The NASCAR environment is an ideal venue in which to showcase the new battery. Just as innovative approaches were taken to create the EcoAdvanced™ battery, the No. 42 Target team is constantly looking for ways to improve on the car as they strive to achieve the highest performance possible throughout the race. Similar to Energizer’s dedication to creating a product that saves resources, Team Target also looks for ways to be efficient while striving to be effective on the race track.

Notes of Interest:

·         Energizer EcoAdvanced AA Battery: Batteries that “keep going and going” used to be the first thing shoppers thought about when browsing the battery aisle. Today’s consumers still expect long-lasting batteries AND they expect more. In an industry previously defined only by the long-lasting power of its products, Energizer is answering these evolving consumer expectations, which now include quality, reliability and making less of an impact on the planet. Disproving many in the industry, Energizer® scientists spent the past seven years creating a battery that is their highest performing alkaline battery AND the world’s first AA battery made with four percent recycled battery material. Energizer® is committed to bringing positive energy to the world by creating less waste and working toward a future where recycling is more broadly available.

·         Energizer at the Race Track: Although this will only be the second time that Larson has raced the Energizer® Chevy, Target Chip Ganassi Racing and Energizer® have enjoyed a strong relationship for nearly 20 years. Energizer® has been a fixture with the team in both the NSCS and the Verizon IndyCar Series. A fun highlight of that relationship was breaking a Guinness World Record in 2011 at Charlotte Motor Speedway for most flashlights lit simultaneously.  Energizer® provided 65,000 fans with LED lights to break the record.

·         Larson on the Track: Larson, the reigning NASCAR rookie of the year, started off the year with a 34th place finish in the season-opening Daytona 500, after an incident on the last lap knocked him out of the race. Larson also competed in the non-points Sprint Unlimited and finished 5th after a last place start. Larson earned a spot in the Unlimited by winning a pole award during the 2014 season. In one previous NSCS race at Atlanta Motor Speedway, Larson finished in eighth place.

Quote Board:

·         Todd Schroeder, VP of North American Sales, Energizer®: “Once again, we are proud to be partnering with Target and Chip Ganassi Racing to showcase our products at the racetrack, and we’re looking forward to our second race with Kyle Larson. Much like our products, he’s a high performer and a driver who you know will put on an exciting show. We’re also very excited to showcase the new EcoAdvanced battery, which is made with four percent recycled batteries and is our highest performing alkaline battery. The battery is a first-of-its-kind in the market, and we’re excited to be on the forefront of this innovative technology.”

·         Steve Lauletta, President, Chip Ganassi Racing Teams: “From the commercials that Target aired with Kyle during the Daytona 500, to our partner Energizer’s decision to showcase this innovative new product on the car, it’s obvious that there is a lot of excitement around the Target team this season. It’s great to see the enthusiasm for the race team continue to grow, especially from long-time partners like Energizer.”

·         Kyle Larson, Driver No. 42 Energizer Chevrolet SS: “I’m looking forward to racing the Energizer Chevy at Atlanta. This paint scheme is one that I know a lot of people look forward to each year, and this season’s design definitely is cool. Atlanta is a track I like, so hopefully we can get our partners from Energizer into victory lane.”
