Headed to the Desert…The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) stays out west this weekend for the second of three West Coast races. Justin Allgaier will compete for the fourth time in his NSCS career this weekend at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR). PIR is the first 1.0-mile track the NSCS has raced on this season. Allgaier looks for better luck this weekend as he’s received damage in the last couple of races in the No. 51 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevy.
Look Closely…This weekend, the No. 51 BRANDT Chevy will carry a corn overlay affect with transparent corn ears on the upper rear quarter panel. BRANDT Professional Agriculture sells corn seed and products for corn production in their Retail Division. In addition, BRANDT’s Specialty Formulations develops, manufactures and markets plant nutrition products, such as BRANDT SMART TRIO®, to increase plant health and yield potential.
See Justin & Set Your DVRs…On Sunday, March 15 from 9:30 – 9:45 a.m. local time, Allgaier will appear for a Q&A at the Team Chevy stage located in the PIR fan midway. Set your DVRs for Allgaier’s ‘Quick :15’ appearance on FOX Sports 1’s RaceDay show, airing at 9 a.m. local time. Allgaier will provide a glimpse into how he begins his race day as a NSCS driver.
Las Vegas Race Recap…The NSCS made its third stop of the 2015 season at Las Vegas Motor Speedway on Sunday. Allgaier qualified the No. 51 BRANDT Professional Agriculture Chevy 26th for the Kobalt 400, improving on his previous start by five positions. After a day of long green-flag runs and a pit road penalty, Allgaier drove the No. 51 BRANDT Chevy to a 31st-place finish for HScott Motorsports.
Justin Allgaier on Phoenix International Raceway:
“From the time I first went to Phoenix [International Raceway], I was really comfortable there. I really don’t have a specific reason why I really like the track. The two ends of the track are completely different, and its key to get as much speed as you can through the middle of Turn One. Getting off of Turn Four and getting down the straightaway is really important too. It’s more difficult to get the car setup at Phoenix because the ends are so vastly different.”
Crew Chief Steve Addington on Phoenix International Raceway:
“This weekend at Phoenix [International Raceway] is the first time we will run our completely new 2015 package at a short track. Justin typically favors the short tracks, so I’m really looking forward to seeing how he likes the new package.
