CONCORD, N.C. (May 15, 2015) – Bubba Wallace, who is competing in his first fulltime season in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, enters Sunday’s race at Iowa Speedway fourth in the series point standings. The Rookie of the Year contender comes into the weekend with some experience at the .88-mile track.
“I’m excited to get on track in Iowa,” said Wallace. “I’ve turned a lot of laps at this track, and I think I have a good feel for this place. In my rookie season, it’s nice to be able to come to a track where I can draw on a decent amount of past experience.”
When Wallace climbs aboard his No. 6 Ford EcoBoost Mustang on Sunday, the 21-year-old will make his 10th stock car start at Iowa Speedway.
He made four NASCAR K&N Pro Series East starts between 2010 and 2012, with a best start of third in the spring of 2012 and a best finish of third in the spring of 2010.
In 2013 and 2014, Wallace made three NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) starts at the .88-mile track. Last season, Wallace earned the pole and led 41 laps before finishing 13th. His best NCWTS finish at the track was fifth in the fall of 2013.
In addition, this weekend marks a homecoming for Wallace’s crew chief Chad Norris. Norris calls Fremont, Iowa home, which is located about one hour away from Iowa Speedway in Newton.
Norris, who has worked with NASCAR drivers Mark Martin, Matt Kenseth, Ryan Newman, Travis Pastrana and Darrell Waltrip, spent the 2014 season as the crew chief for Trevor Bayne.
“I’m looking forward to this weekend, because I feel like this is a track that Roush Fenway is strong at,” said Norris. “It’s nice to get home and see some family, and I’m hoping we can put on a good show for them”
Wallace sits fourth in the NASCAR XFINITY Series points standings, 37 points out of the lead.
Wallace and the NASCAR XFINITY Series take to the track at Iowa Speedway this Sunday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m. ET on FoxSports1.
