From Horses to Horsepower; E.E.Ward Moves Into High Gear with RPM

One of the Nation’s Oldest Minority-owned Businesses Will Write the Next Chapter of its 134-year History with Racing Legend Richard Petty.

MOORESVILLE, N.C. (May 22, 2015) – Richard Petty Motorsports welcomes Columbus, Ohio based E.E. Ward Moving & Storage, one of the country’s oldest minority-owned businesses, as an associate sponsor on the No. 43 WinField Ford Mustang this weekend.

E.E. Ward will have its logo on the rear decklid of Dakoda Armstrong’s Ford during the NASCAR XFINITY Series’ Hisense 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The opportunity is the result of E.E. Ward being hired to move Richard Petty Motorsports to a new 80,000-square-foot facility in Mooresville, North Carolina during the off season. The sponsorship deal is part of a five race agreement with U.S. based moving company North American Van Lines (NAVL), who will also have its logo on the car this weekend.  E.E. Ward is an agent of NAVL.

“Moving Richard Petty Motorsports was one of the largest moves in E.E. Ward’s 134-year history,” said Brian Brooks, President of E.E. Ward. “It is also the first time a moving company of our size seized the opportunity to partner with a NASCAR team like Richard Petty Motorsports. It was the project of a lifetime. Partnering with a sports legend like Richard Petty is an experience we’ll never forget.”

“It was an easy choice for us to work with E.E. Ward and North American Van Lines,” said Sammy Johns, Director of Competition for Richard Petty Motorsports. “Their reputation for commercial and residential moving services is second to none.”

The reputation Johns spoke of was first created in 1881 when William S. Ward and his father, John T. Ward, founded The Ward Transfer Line. The team consisted of a few horses, two helpers and one single wagon.  Today, E.E. Ward moves more than 2,000 homes and businesses a year. But Brooks and his team said E.E. Ward has never made a move like this.

“Sheer pride. There’s no other way around it,” said Jason Carpenter, a lifelong Richard Petty fan who helped manage the project for E.E. Ward. “It’s like someone telling you about Disneyland, but you don’t know until you actually see it.”
