Honda Indy Toronto announces new sponsorship agreement with Cooper Tire

TORONTO, ON, May 28, 2015Organizers of the Honda Indy Toronto today announced that Cooper Tire & Rubber Company has signed an agreement to become the official tire of the event and will have an extensive interactive fan zone during the annual racing festival, June 12-14.

Cooper adds the Honda Indy Toronto to its list of high-profile race sponsorships, which also includes lead sponsor and official tire status since 2012 for the Mazda Road to Indy development series, which races at the Honda Indy Toronto this June at Exhibition Place.

“Cooper has deep roots in racing and we are thrilled to welcome them as a partner for our event,” said Charlie Johnstone, President, Honda Indy Toronto. “Their commitment to motorsports is one that we share and their presence onsite will be a great area of engagement for race fans during the Honda Indy Toronto weekend.”

As part of its consumer activation on site, Cooper will host a fan spot that features interactive exhibits, games and activities, as well as special guest appearances and autograph sessions.

“Cooper is proud to come on as a sponsor of the Honda Indy Toronto,” said Mike Simon, Vice President of Marketing, Cooper Tire & Rubber Company. “This event combines two passions for us—racing and serving the Canadian market. Our company continues to heighten our racing profile because tires that are developed for and undergo the rigorous conditions of the track get translated into tires that perform extremely well for everyday drivers on the roadway.  Cooper is also excited about what we’ve been doing in Canada to let drivers know we are here to serve them with great quality tires, including products specifically designed and manufactured to meet the needs of Canadians. This is a win-win.”
