SELF ROLLS ON TO THE GLEN

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – With his inaugural Xfinity Series start under his belt, Michael Self rolls on to Race Two this weekend.

And it’s another challenge. After finishing 32nd in last week’s race at Iowa Speedway, Self will drive again for JD Motorsports with Gary Keller Saturday in the Zippo 200 at the Glen, the first road-course race of the Xfinity season.

This week, Self will be in the No. 0 Chevy.

“Getting the opportunity to race at Watkins Glen in the Xfinity series this weekend is more than exciting for me,” Self said. “It’s a historic track, and, as a road racer, one that’s always been high on my list of tracks I want to race at. Just getting the opportunity to drive the Xfinity car there is really cool for me. I’m looking forward to debuting another new sponsor this weekend, and offering JD Motorsports everything my years of road racing and coaching have taught me in an attempt to improve their program.”

Self finished 32nd last week in the team’s 01 Chevrolet after experiencing a blown tire.

Practice is scheduled at the Glen at 1 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Friday. Qualifying is set for 11:15 a.m. Saturday, with the race to follow at 3 p.m.
