Bubba Wallace Earns a Top-10 in Mid-Ohio

LEXINGTON, Ohio (Aug. 15, 2015) – Roush Fenway Racing’s Bubba Wallace earned his eighth top-10 finish of the 2015 season on Saturday afternoon at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.  Wallace qualified 11th and overcame an early spin to finish eighth in the NASCAR XFINITY Series Nationwide Children’s Hospital 200.

Wallace advanced to the final round of qualifying on Saturday morning, ultimately landing his No. 6 Ford EcoBoost Mustang an 11th-place starting position for the 75-Lap race at the 2.4-mile road course.

From the start of the race, Wallace worked his way into the top-10.  By the first caution on Lap 7, Wallace had advanced to ninth.  On Lap 8 Wallace visited pit road for four tires, fuel and no adjustments.  Several cars stayed on the track during that round of pit stops, which left Wallace to restart in 18th.

Wallace worked his way up to seventh, before a spin off the track into the gravel dropped him to 22nd.  The rookie of the year contender informed the team that he did not flat spot the tires during the spin, so crew chief Seth Barbour left his driver on the track.

As Wallace continued to work his way through traffic, the No. 6 Ford EcoBoost Mustang came down pit road on Lap 38 in 16th-place for four tires, fuel and spring rubber adjustments.

During the next green flag run, Wallace informed the team that the adjustments helped, and that he was just trying to be patient.  Barbour reminded him to save fuel.

As the laps wound down, Wallace continued to gain back the lost positions, closing out the day in eighth.  With the result, he remains sixth in the NASCAR XFINITY Series point standings, as the series travels to Bristol Motor Speedway.
