Elliott Sadler Finishes Sixth at Mid-Ohio

LEXINGTON, OHIO (August 15, 2015) – Roush Fenway Racing’s Elliott Sadler finished sixth during Saturday’s NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) race at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course. Sadler started his No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang from the 10th position, for the 75 lap race in Lexington, OH. With an early caution, Sadler was able to come down pit road under yellow for a fuel only pit stop. The yellow came out again a few laps later and the leaders came down pit road. With Sadler pitting on the first caution, Sadler moved up to front and restarted as the leader on Lap 16. As the race went on, Sadler drifted back a few positions, but he was able to maintain his top-10 position for the entire race. In the closing laps, Sadler battled hard on the restarts and was able to gain ground and cross the finish line in the sixth position.

“Another Top-10 finish is great,” Sadler said after the race. “I’m very proud of my No. 1 OneMain Financial team. My crew did a great job providing me with a competitive car from the moment they rolled it off the truck. We had a great race strategy and our early pit stop helped us quickly work our way through the field. My car wasn’t as fast at the top-three cars, but bringing home a sixth-place finish is big. Moving forward, I’m ready to go to one of my favorite tracks next week at Bristol Motor Speedway.”

Sadler started from the 10th position for the 75 lap event on Saturday morning. An early caution on lap six provided the opportunity for Sadler to come down pit road for a fuel only pit stop. When the race went back to green, Sadler restarted from the 14th.

On Lap 12, the caution flag waved for the second time and all the leaders came down pit road. Since Sadler pitted just a few laps before, Sadler stayed out and moved into the first position. On Lap 16, Sadler restarted as the race leader.

On the restart, Sadler held his ground and maintained a top-five position for the next 20 laps.

On Lap 41, the yellow flag came out again and Sadler was scored in the ninth position. Sadler radioed to the team that the car was a little loose on the left handers.  The crew added four fresh tires, fuel and made a small wedge adjustment to help with the handling. Sadler exited pit road and restarted eighth.

The adjustments helped and by Lap 46, Sadler methodically worked his way forward to the fifth position.

Three more cautions happened in the final 30 laps and Sadler stayed out to maintain his track position on each caution. In closing laps, Sadler was passed on a restart and finished the race in the sixth position.

The NASCAR XFINITY Series and Sadler’s No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang will be back in action next week at Bristol Motor Speedway.
