Top-10 Finish for Sadler at Charlotte Motor Speedway

CONCORD, N.C. (Oct. 9, 2015) – Roush Fenway Racing’s Elliott Sadler finished 10th in his special pink No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang on Friday night in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) race at Charlotte Motor Speedway (CMS). Sadler qualified for the 200 lap event on Friday afternoon and started the night race from the 10th position. Sadler and his No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang battled in the top-15 for the majority of the race. With less than 50 laps to go at CMS, the yellow came out and Sadler was the Lucky Dog. Running 11th, Sadler came down pit road under yellow and the crew made some major adjustments to tighten up Sadler’s car. The changes helped Sadler’s handling and he was able to drive his pink Ford across the finish line for a 10th-place finish.

“It was a tough night for us,” Sadler said after he exited the car. “We just missed it a little bit. We were really loose yesterday and we tried to round it back in today. We saw it with tire wear, tire pressures and everything else, but we just couldn’t tighten it up enough. We fought a loose car for the majority of the night, but I’m proud of how hard my guys fought. That’s not the finish we wanted, but I think that’s the best possible finish we could get tonight.”

At 4:45PM ET, Sadler qualified for the 200 mile race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Not long after 8:00pm, Sadler started the race from the 10th position.

Not long into the 200 lap race, Sadler radioed to the team, “My car is crazy loose. As soon as I get on the throttle, the rear end wants to snap loose.” On Lap 48, the yellow came out and Sadler pitted for four fresh tires, fuel and the crew made a small track bar adjustment. Sadler said, “The changes helped, but we still needed a lot more to fix the handling.”

At the halfway point in race, Sadler was scored in the 14th position and radioed to the team, “My car is still crazy loose and it’s hard to give it full throttle exiting the turns.”

On Lap 141, the yellow flag came out again. The team decided to go with a major adjustment and when Sadler pulled into the pit box, a crew member pulled one spring rubber out of the left rear and added two spring rubbers in on the right side. At the time of the caution, Sadler was the Lucky Dog and he’ll be able to get back on the lead lap.

In the final 50 laps of the NXS race, Sadler was able to pick up a few positions and crossed the finish line in the 10th position.

The NASCAR XFINITY Series and Sadler’s No. 1 OneMain Financial Ford Mustang will be back in action next week at Kansas Speedway on Saturday afternoon.
