Front Row Motorsports AAA Texas 500 Preview

AAA Texas 500
Texas Motor Speedway, Fort Worth, Texas

Brett Moffitt | No. 34 Visit Dallas Ford

“Texas is fast, and it’s wide. So, you can drive off into Turn 1, and there’s just so much room. You’ve really got to pay attention to your corner entry to make sure you’re getting to the bottom when you need to.

“It’s cool to have Visit Dallas on our No. 34 Ford Fusion. The Dallas metropolitan area is bigger than probably what most people realize, and there’s so much to do in the area. I’m glad the Sprint Cup Series goes there twice a year so we can have a couple chances to take advantage of all the great sights, restaurants and other attractions. We want NASCAR fans to go to VisitDallas.com and check it out, too.”

JUST THE FACTS: Sunday’s AAA Texas 500 will be Moffitt’s third Sprint Cup start at Texas Motor Speedway … His best finish at the 1.5-mile oval is 29th …  VisitDallas joins the No. 34 team for the first time as primary sponsor.

Cole Whitt | No. 35 Moen Ford

“I’m really proud of our finish last week. To get a top-20, lead-lap finish at a track as tough as Martinsville, it really shows the progress we’ve made as a team. I think we can do well at Texas, too. We’re bringing a new sponsor and a new paint scheme with Moen on our No. 35 Ford, so we’ll look to get them some attention.

“We should be able to take some of what we learned at Charlotte to help us at Texas. They have a lot of the same characteristics, but Texas has some of its own challenges, too. But I usually look at all the mile-and-a-halfs the same, even though each one has its own little difference that you’ve got to tweak the car to or change your driving style a little. But we have a similar approach to all of them.”

JUST THE FACTS: Whitt has three prior Sprint Cup starts at Texas Motor Speedway … His best finish at the Fort Worth track is 26th (2014) … Moen will join Whitt as primary sponsor of the No. 35 Ford for the Texas race weekend … The team comes off a 20th-place finish at Martinsville Speedway on Sunday.

David Gilliland | No. 38 Love’s Travel Stops Ford

“Texas is a really fast track, and it’s very similar to Charlotte, in my opinion, the way it drives. So, we learned some things at Charlotte a few weeks ago that I think are going to really help us at Texas. I’m eager to get there with our Love’s Travel Stops Ford to try it out. It’s been one of my favorite race tracks since I’ve come to the Cup Series. It’s got some character with the bump over the tunnel, and it’s just a fun track and one of the fastest that we go to. It’s also Love’s home track, so of course we want to run well for them.”

JUST THE FACTS:  Gilliland has 18 Sprint Cup starts at Texas Motor Speedway … He has one top-15 and two top-20 finishes at the 1.5-mile oval … His best finish at the Fort Worth speedway is 15th (2008) … Love’s Travel Stops returns as primary sponsor of the No. 38 for the AAA Texas 500 … Gilliland will meet fans and sign autographs at the Love’s Travel Stops location at Highways 287 and 114 in Rhome, Texas, on Friday from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
