SMITHLEY TARGETS FONTANA

FONTANA, Calif. – Garrett Smithley, rolling along in his first year in the Xfinity Series, tackles another track for the first time Saturday when he drives the JD Motorsports with Gary Keller No. 0 Chevrolet in the TreatMyClots.com 300 at Auto Club Speedway.

The race will be the fourth of the season for the young Georgia driver.

“We’ve had a great first run at the West Coast swing, and I want to take that momentum and finish strong at California,” Smithley said. “Auto Club Speedway is yet another track I have never been to, but I feel like it plays into my driving style. I love big fast tracks, so hopefully I will get the 0 car up to speed fast.”

Smithley, 22nd in the Xfinity driver standings, has finished 24th, 24th and 31st in his races to date.

Practice is scheduled at the two-mile track at 3 p.m. (ET) and 5:30 p.m. Friday. Qualifying is set for 12:15 p.m. Saturday, with the race to follow at 4 p.m.
