Wallace Finishes 16th in Richmond

Richmond, Va. (April 23, 2016) – Bubba Wallace, driver of the No. 6 Ford EcoBoost Ford Mustang, recorded a 16th-place finish on Saturday afternoon in the NASCAR XFINITY Series event at Richmond International Raceway.

“We fought hard,” said Wallace after the race. “It was just difficult to work on our Mustang like we needed to without much practice and with that really long green-flag run. We’ll rebound and go get them at Talladega next week.”

Wallace took the green flag for the 140-Lap main event from the 13th position after finishing sixth in the 35-Lap heat race that took place earlier in the afternoon. In the early stages Wallace fought his way into the top 10, running as high as eighth. However, as the long green-flag run progressed the handling of the Ford EcoBoost Mustang began to shift toward the tight side, affecting Wallace’s exit off of the corners.

This tight-handling condition persisted throughout the 125-Lap green-flag run and shuffled Wallace outside of the top 15 and ultimately off of the lead lap.

In the closing stages, Wallace narrowly avoided a multi-car incident in turn two and was able to bring his Roush Fenway Ford home with a 16th-place finish.

Next up for the NASCAR XFINITY Series is Talladega Superspeedway on Saturday, April 30.
