Brian Scott Ready to Race His Way into All-Star Race

Twisted Tea to Adorn the Hood of No. 44 Ford Fusion

NASCAR heads home to Charlotte for the next two weeks, in a double header that comprises of the All-Star Race this Saturday night, and the longest race of the season, the Coca-Cola 600 next weekend. In Brian Scott’s rookie year in the Sprint Cup Series, he is not yet eligible for the All-Star Race but will be looking to race his way in at the Sprint Showdown on Friday night.

The Sprint Showdown on Friday night will consist of three segments: two 20-lap segments and a final 10-lap segment. The field for Segment 1 will be set by practice speed, with the winner automatically advancing to the All-Star Race and will not continue to the next segment. The field for Segment 2 will be set by pit road order after a mandatory minimum two-tire pit stop, also with the winner advancing to the All-Star Race and not continuing in the Sprint Showdown. The final 10-lap segment will be set by pit road order after a second mandatory minimum two-tire pit stop; the winner advancing to the All-Star Race.

Currently, there are only 15 of the 20 car field set for the All-Star Race. The rest of the field will be determined by the Sprint Showdown and also by a fan vote online. Scott has had success at Charlotte Motor Speedway in the XFINITY Series, with two Top-Five and five Top-10 finishes in 12 starts at the 1.5-mile home track.

Twisted Tea returns to the No. 44 Ford team this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway with the iconic yellow and blue paint scheme. The No. 44 Twisted Tea Ford will compete in the Sprint Showdown on Friday evening beginning at 7:15 p.m. Fans can vote for Scott into the All-Star Race daily by visiting NASCAR.com/SprintFanVote.

“I think everybody loves Charlotte, just having the added time at home in your own bed and not having to get on an airplane is nice, and it’s a home base. It’s great for the guys who work at the shop that don’t get to travel on a regular basis, it’s nice for them to come out and see the fruits of their labor and what they’ve been working on. We definitely want to have a good run and do everything we can for Richard Petty Motorsports and put on a good show. I think the Showdown is great and a good practice session for the Coca-Cola 600. We really want to be in the All-Star Race to try to win the money, but it’s also a great practice session for the Coca-Cola 600.”
