ADVANCE NOTES
Reed at Charlotte Motor Speedway
Reed has competed at Charlotte Motor Speedway five times in the NASCAR XFINITY Series, never finishing outside of the top 15. In 2015, Reed took home 12th- and 11th-place finishes in the spring and fall races, respectively.
On the Car
The No. 16 team will run a special paint scheme this weekend, recognizing veterans who have served and bringing awareness to the one in four who live with diabetes. As a part of NASCAR’s Salutes program, the car will feature a series of red, white and blue stars and stripes, with one out of four stars filled in blue to recognize the 25 percent of our service members who live with the disease.
Riding with Ryan
American Diabetes Association® representative and diabetes advocate Stephanie Bradshaw will ‘ride’ along with Roush Fenway Racing driver Ryan Reed during this weekend’s race. The Garner, N.C. resident will have her name featured on a decal above the passenger-side window of the No. 16 Ford Mustang.
Like Reed, Bradshaw lives with diabetes and knows the importance of staying healthy to manage her health. After watching her father fight diabetes for over 25 years, Bradshaw was determined not to let diabetes win. Through working with her doctor, eating healthy and exercising, Bradshaw has lost over 97 pounds and counting since her diagnosis. She is an avid fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association of Raleigh Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes® event. Last year, her team raised the most money in the family and friends division for the Raleigh event. This weekend in Charlotte, Bradshaw will have the opportunity to meet Reed and watch the race from atop the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association pit box.
Reed in 2016
Reed is scored 10th in the NASCAR XFINITY Series Championship standings after 10 races. Reed has led eight laps for the season and has recorded an average finish of 16.7.
Dover Recap
Reed and the No. 16 team finished 18th at Dover International Speedway on May 14th after starting 15th in the main heat and receiving damage in an incident on Lap 20. The damage forced the team to pit to repair the car, causing Reed to lose significant track position and control of the car’s handling.
Reed on Charlotte Motor Speedway
“I’m excited to have a lot of friends, family, Lilly and ADA guests at the track this weekend and hope we can put on a good show for them. There’s a lot of pressure racing in our backyard at Charlotte, but we have had some solid finishes here in the past couple of years. Our Cup cars did really well this past weekend at Charlotte, which is a good sign for our XFINITY cars. I can’t wait to get on track Thursday to see what we’ve got.”
