Greg Biffle Sets Sight on Michigan with Lower Downforce Package

CONCORD, N.C. (June 8, 2016) – Greg Biffle heads to his favorite track this weekend, Michigan International Raceway, with a new lower downforce package that suits his driving style at the 1.5-mile track.  Biffle has four wins at Michigan, the most recent in 2013 where he claimed the 1,000th win for Ford Racing.  No other driver has more wins at Michigan than Biffle and he ranks second in laps led at 593.

“I’m really excited about Michigan this weekend,” said Biffle.  “Our 1.5-mile program and 2.0-mile programs have really picked up.  This will be the latest version of the lowest downforce we’ve run in some time.  With that and all my success at Michigan, I really feel like this a great opportunity for us this weekend to potentially get back to victory lane.”

The newest lower downforce package mandated by NASCAR will debut this weekend at Michigan International Speedway and Biffle is ready for the change.

“We won’t know until we get there and unload and get on the track, but simulation shows the car is a lot looser, little bit slower corner speeds and that’s the way I’ve won all the races there, that type of scenario,” said Biffle.  “Slowing down for the corner and making the car a little bit free, I look forward to it, I think it will play into our hands.  We’ll just have to wait and see.”

In June of 2013 Biffle earned his fourth victory at Michigan and also the 1,000th win for Ford Racing, all of which fell on Father’s Day and his daughter Emma was there to celebrate.  In addition to the four wins Biffle also has 10 top-five and 15 top-10 finishes.

“Michigan is my absolute favorite place to race, I love that place,” said Biffle.  “Having my daughter there on Father’s Day in victory lane to celebrate Ford’s 1000th win meant the world to me.”

Biffle’s first Sprint Cup win at Michigan came in his fourth start back in 2004.  Since then he’s gone on to win three more times, earn 10 top-five and 15 top-10 finishes.

Biffle is two-for-two in the Truck Series at Michigan International Raceway.  In his two starts he has two victories.  His most recent Truck Series victory at Michigan was in 2000 where he led all but 10 laps to cross the finish line first.
