INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 22, 2016) – You will find no ‘purple stuff’ in the No. 17 team’s cooler at Roush Fenway Racing, as the team has announced a multi-year extension with SunnyD as a primary partner on the No. 17 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Ford with driver Ricky Stenhouse Jr. The iconic brand has served as the primary partner for Stenhouse in multiple races this season, including this weekend at the famed Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
“We are very excited to have SunnyD extend its partnership on the No. 17,” said Stenhouse. “It’s a great brand and we have had a lot of fun this year promoting their product.
“I think the SunnyD paint scheme is one of the coolest looking cars on the track and I’m extremely happy that we will continue to see it on the track moving forward,” added Stenhouse. “Now, we just need to put it in victory laneon Sunday and we can start a new tradition drinking a cold SunnyD in victory lane.”
In addition to the extension, SunnyD will serve as the primary for Stenhouse in the October Sprint Cup race at Charlotte and in the NASCAR XFINITY Race in Phoenix later this season.
“SunnyD is extremely excited to extend its partnership with Roush Fenway Racing and Ricky Stenhouse Jr.,” said Henk Hartong, chairman & CEO of Brynwood Partners, owners of the Sunny Delight Beverages Co. “The engagement we’ve seen this year with the incredibly loyal NASCAR fans has been tremendous and we plan on continuing to drive that success to retail.”
This season, Roush Fenway and SunnyD have teamed together in several unique social programs and promotions. Stenhouse and teammate Chris Buescher, along with FOX personalities Kaitlyn Vincie and Andrew Doud, recreated the classic “Purple Stuff” SunnyD commercial. Until the checkered flag falls at Indianapolis on July 24, fans are encouraged to submit their own version of the “purple stuff” vs. SunnyD spot using any social media channel with the hashtag #ShareaSunnyD. Several lucky fans will win SunnyD prize packs.
Stenhouse and the SunnyD Ford Fusion will take the green flag for the Brickyard 400 this Sunday at 3 p.m. ET, with the race being televised live on NBCSN.
