ADVANCE NOTES
Reed at Charlotte
Friday night’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway marks Reed’s seventh start at the 1.5-mile track in Concord, N.C. In his previous six starts, Reed has never finished outside of the top-20. His best finish of 11th came in this event last season.
The Chase
Friday night’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway marks the third race in the first round of the Chase. Following the race, four drivers will be eliminated from Championship contention. Reed enters this weekend fifth in the NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase Grid.
Riding with Ryan
Drive to Stop DiabetesSM representative Ryan Rice will “ride” along with Reed during Friday night’s NASCAR XFINITY Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Rice will have his name featured on a decal above the passenger-side window of the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang as part of the joint campaign to spread awareness and education about diabetes.
Like Reed, Rice has diabetes and knows the importance of staying healthy to manage the disease. Through working with his doctor, eating healthy and exercising, Rice successfully lives with diabetes and is an inspiration for those who live with it.
Rice is part of the planning committees for two signature fundraising events by the American Diabetes Association®, Step Out: Walk to Stop Diabetes®, a walk, and Tour de Cure®, a cycling ride. Rice’s favorite ways to stay healthy include walking and standing as much as possible while at work, as well as enjoying the outdoors by strolling around Lake Wylie. In addition, Rice speaks openly about diabetes in an effort to help other members of the diabetes community.
Dover Recap
Reed celebrated his 100th NASCAR XFINITY Series start with a 10th-place finish Sunday at Dover International Raceway. Reed’s solid run in his No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Mustang has him fifth in the Chase Grid heading into the first Chase cutoff race this weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
2016 Season
Reed ranks fifth on the NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase Grid after 28 races. He has recorded one top-five and six top-10 finishes, led eight laps for the season and has recorded an average finish of 16.
Reed on Charlotte
“We were able to leave Dover with a strong finish, which is really important heading into this Chase cutoff race at Charlotte,” said Reed. “If we can put together another solid, mistake-free run, there’s no reason this team can’t advance to the next round in our Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford.”
