McDowell Riding A Wave Of Momentum To Home Track

Circle Sport – Leavine Family Racing Sporting New Colors At Phoenix International Raceway

CONCORD, N.C. (November 9, 2016) – NASCAR driver Michael McDowell will return to his home track of Phoenix International Raceway fresh off recording his career-best finish at Texas Motor Speedway in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS).

McDowell and Circle Sport – Leavine Family Racing (CSLFR) are having a notable season, as they have recorded 15 Top-25’s thus far, with their last five consecutive races being Top-25 finishes. The team’s 23rd place finish at Texas Motor Speedway marked their 15th career-best race track finish of the 2016 NSCS season.

McDowell is looking to carry this momentum and streak of solid finishes into “The Hot Mile,” where he has raced eleven times and recorded a career-best finish of 24th at this track back in March of this year. He hopes to improve on that finish during this final trip to the 1-mile tri-oval of the 2016 NSCS season.

McDowell, who grew up in Glendale, AZ., began racing BMX bikes at three years old before moving on to kart racing. He joined the Phoenix Kart Racing Association, located only a few miles north of Phoenix International Raceway, and attended Indy Car Races at with his family at the track he now considers home.

“Phoenix is my home race, so I always like to go back and see my family – it’s always fun to do that,” said McDowell. “I only get to go back a couple times a year. Our finishes at short tracks have been pretty good this season as well, so I am definitely optimistic about racing in Phoenix this weekend.”

McDowell and CSLFR announced earlier this week that they have a new partnership for this weekend’s race in Phoenix and will be sporting new colors on the No. 95 Chevy, as ON Semiconductor will be featured as the primary paint scheme for the Can-Am 500 this weekend.

Based out of Phoenix, ON Semiconductor is a leading supplier of semiconductor-based solutions; helping engineers solve their unique design challenges in automotive, communications, computing, consumer, industrial, medical, aerospace and defense applications.

The Can-Am 500 will take place at Phoenix International Raceway on Sunday, November 13 at 2:30 p.m. ET, where McDowell will pilot the No. 95 ON Semiconductor / Malwarebytes Chevrolet SS. Race fans can tune-in to NBCSN for live coverage and follow @CSLFR95 on Twitter.
