MOORESVILLE, N.C. (November 10, 2016) – Shell, Pennzoil and Team Penske will add a special section to the “mosaic” paint scheme on Joey Logano’s No. 22 Ford Fusion for the Can-Am 500 race at Phoenix International Speedway (PIR) this weekend in honor of Veteran’s Day.
Logano has carried the mosaic scheme in eight races so far in 2016 to celebrate Team Penske’s 50th anniversary. The mosaic consists of 140 unique images from significant moments in Team Penske’s history in motorsports.
In addition to celebrating the 50 years of Team Penske, Shell and Pennzoil want to recognize our veterans that have sacrificed so much to allow us to do what we love – race.
This weekend, the deck lid of the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil Ford includes a photo mosaic of Paralyzed Veterans of America (Paralyzed Veterans) members and historic moments in PVA’s history as they celebrate their 70th year. “Shell, Pennzoil and Team Penske have been outstanding partners and have done so much to support and bring awareness to Paralyzed Veterans,” said Al Kovach, Jr., national president of Paralyzed Veterans. “This is a great tribute on a special weekend for all of us as Americans. Thanks to all of our supporters we’ve been serving veterans for 70 years and will continue to do so as long as there is a need.”
The Paralyzed Veterans of America was founded in 1946 by a band of WWII veterans. The organization helped establish a specialized system of care for spinal cord injury and/or disease, and advocated for benefits accessibility and the civil rights of individuals with disabilities.
At Phoenix, driver Joey Logano and the No. 22 Shell-Pennzoil race team will look to grab one of the final two spots left in the Championship Round at Homestead-Miami Speedway.
