NASCAR Truck Series Rookie Anthony Alfredo Partners With Friends of Jaclyn Foundation

Mooresville, NC, March 8, 2019 (Newswire.com) –  2019 NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series rookie Anthony Alfredo is excited to announce a partnership with the Friends of Jaclyn Foundation (FOJ), a non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness for and improving the quality of life for young children battling brain tumors and pediatric cancer.

The Ridgefield, Connecticut racer and student at UNC-Charlotte, made his Truck Series debut with DGR-Crosley at Atlanta Motor Speedway two weeks ago and raced at Las Vegas Motor Speedway last weekend.  As excited as he is to have kicked off what is expected to be a 13-race schedule in the Truck Series this season, he is equally excited in a much different way to make a difference through his work with the FOJ.

“Forming this partnership with Friends of Jaclyn is a huge opportunity for me to continue utilizing my racing program to do good for others,” Alfredo, part of the 2018 NASCAR Next class, explained. Much like what I’ve been doing with JDRF raising awareness for Type 1 Diabetes, I will now help raise awareness for pediatric cancer patients battling brain tumors and more, helping Friends of Jaclyn achieve their mission of improving the quality of life for these young children and their families. I never thought I’d be in the position to help raise awareness for such serious life challenges and put smiles on so many young kids’ faces. I am very thankful and looking forward to growing this partnership in the years to come.”

Reflecting on his first two starts in the Truck Series, Alfredo said he was pleased with the performances, if not necessarily the results.  “I have had the opportunity to run in the top ten, which is obviously really good considering these were my first two races in the series. But we’ve had some issues like a loose wheel forcing us to pit under green with under 10 laps remaining at Las Vegas that have kept our results from being as strong as they could have been. I have learned a great deal about racing the trucks and how I want our Toyota Tundra to handle in a race.

When asked what he would expect at Texas Motor Speedway when he starts his next Truck Series race, he responded, “I believe Texas is a cross between both Atlanta and Las Vegas which should help us. David Gilliland, our team owner, also ran well there last year before he blew a right front tire when he was preparing to pass the leader. I feel confident heading into the race because of everything I have learned in my first two races, and because with each race we run, the relationship between my team and me grows stronger and I learn more about what the Truck needs from me as a driver.  I have no doubt that we’ll progress each race and have opportunities before the season’s over to run for top fives and maybe even some wins. I’m excited that I can bring the Friends Of Jaclyn Foundation along for the ride and use the opportunities I have been given to lift others up and give back.”

Alfredo’s next start in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series will be on Friday, March 29 at the Texas Motor Speedway.  The Vankor 350 is scheduled to start at 9 pm Eastern time and will be televised live on Fox Sports 1 and broadcast live on the radio at www.GoPRN.com.
