Brandon Lynn to Roll from the Pole in ARCA Menards Series General Tire 200 at Talladega

Brandon Lynn (No. 20 Carolina Excavation Toyota) earned his first career ARCA Menards Series General Tire Pole Award in qualifying for this afternoon’s General Tire 200 at Talladega Superspeedway. Lynn, driving one of three Venturini Motorsports entries in the field, turned a fast lap of 53.298 seconds/179.669 miles per hour.

Per ARCA Menards Series rules for restrictor-plate tracks, the teams went out in groups of five cars for four minutes. The fastest lap each driver turned in each session was their lap of record.

Lynn was in the second group to take to the track, along with fellow front row starter Ty Majeski (No. 22 Chad Bryant Racing Ford). Majeski’s fast lap of 53.313 seconds/179.618 miles per hour was good enough for second quick. Andy Seuss (No. 02 Robert B. Our Company Chevrolet), also part of the second group, was third fastest at 53.320 seconds/179.595 miles per hour, and 2016 Talladega winner Gus Dean (No. 32 Baker Distributing Chevrolet) as fourth at 53.332 seconds/179.554 miles per hour.

“The Venturini team is absolutely perfect,” Lynn said in victory lane celebrating his first career pole. “The car was great off the trailer. We’ve been so close here before, and Talladega is such a big deal that’s why we keep coming back here trying to win this thing.”

Michael Self (No. 25 Sinclair Lubricants Toyota), who enters the Talladega race with a two-race win streak, qualified fifth at 53.470 seconds/179.091 miles per hour.

Riley Herbst (No. 18 Monster Energy/ORCA Coolers/Terrible Herbst/Advance Auto Parts Toyota) qualified sixth, former winner Brandon McReynolds (No. 28 kBR Development Chevrolet) was seventh, Sean Corr (No. 43 The Trans Group/NESCO Chevrolet) was eighth, last year’s runner-up finisher Joe Graf, Jr. (No. 77 EAT SLEEP RACE Ford) was ninth, and Grant Quinlan (No. 30 Jones Demolition and Abatement Ford) rounded out the top ten.

The General Tire 200 at Talladega Superspeedway is set to start at 6 pm ET. The race will be televised live flag-to-flag on FS1.
