Cole Custer will be remaining as the driver of the No. 41 Chevrolet entry for Haas Factory Team for the 2027 NASCAR Cup Series season.
The news was made on Haas Factory Team’s social media page on Friday, October 9. It occurs as Custer, the 2023 O’Reilly Auto Parts Series champion from Ladera Ranch, California, is currently campaigning in his second consecutive Cup Series season with Haas Factory Team and fifth overall. Through 31-scheduled starts this season, Custer has recorded a single top-10 result, which was a 10th-place result at Daytona International Speedway in mid-August. He has also led three laps and an average-finishing result of 24.7. He is ranked in 32nd place in the driver’s standings with 387 points.
Custer made his first three career starts in the Cup Series division in 2019 with Rick Ware Racing, where his highest-finishing result is 25th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in the spring. The following season, he competed in the Cup division on a full-time basis for the first time, where he drove for Stewart-Haas Racing (SHR). During his rookie campaign amid the COVID-19 pandemic, he notched his first career victory at Kentucky Speedway and earned an automatic berth to the Playoffs before settled in 15th place in the final standings. With a total of two top-five results, seven top-10 results and an average-finishing result of 19.2, Custer claimed the 2020 Cup Series’ Rookie-of-the-Year title.
Custer remained as a full-time Cup competitor for SHR for the following two seasons (2021-22), where he notched a combined five top-10 results and his first career pole at the Bristol Motor Speedway Dirt Course in April 2022 before he scaled back to competing in the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series division with SHR for the next two seasons (2023-24), the latter of which he won the O’Reilly championship in 2023 and finished in the runner-up spot in 2024.
Amid Custer’s O’Reilly campaign, the Californian made six Cup starts with Rick Ware Racing in 2023 before he returned as a full-time Cup competitor for the newly named Haas Factory Team in 2025, the latter season of which he recorded two top-five results, three top-10 results, 10 laps led and an average-finishing result of 23.6 before finishing in 32nd place in the standings.
Through 184 career starts in the Cup Series, Custer has achieved a single victory, a single pole, four top-five results, 16 top-10 results, 42 laps led and an average-finishing result of 22.1 as he continues his pursuit for his first series’ championship.
With his plans for next season set, Cole Custer’s 2027 NASCAR Cup Series season resumes this Sunday, October 11, at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina, for the Bank of America 400. The event’s broadcast time is scheduled to commence at 3 p.m. ET on USA Network, PRN Radio, SiriusXM and HBO MAX.
