Bayne Finishes 31st in Dover

DOVER, Del. (Oct. 4, 2015) – Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion, recorded a 31st-place finish in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) event at Dover International Speedway on Sunday afternoon.

“The rain affecting practice really hurt us,” said Bayne after the race. “We’ll move on from today and look to get some solid finishes in this AdvoCare Ford in the final seven races of the season. I’m definitely looking forward to racing at home next weekend in Charlotte.”

Bayne took the green flag from the 29th position on Sunday at Dover after rain canceled qualifying on Friday, setting the field by points per the NASCAR Rulebook. From the drop of the green flag, Bayne reported to crew chief Bob Osborne that the AdvoCare Ford was very tight going through the corner. Osborne utilized a competition caution in the hopes of improving the handling of the Roush Fenway Ford.

Despite the adjustments, the tight handling condition persisted for the Knoxville, Tenn. native as he battled the ever changing track conditions. As the race progressed long green flag runs began to dominate the afternoon, making it increasingly more difficult to gain track position.

In the closing stages, Bayne would be caught on pit road as the caution came out during a round of green flag pit stops, costing the driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford more track position to the race leaders.

In the end, Bayne would take the checkered flag in the 31st position.

Next up for the NSCS is Charlotte Motor Speedway on Saturday, Oct. 10.
