CHEVY NSCS AT MARTINSVILLE TWO: Qualifing Notes

NASCAR SPRINT CUP SERIES
GOODY’S HEADACHE RELIEF SHOT 500
MARTINSVILLE SPEEDWAY
TEAM CHEVY DRIVER QUALIFYING NOTES & QUOTES
OCTOBER 30, 2015

MARTIN TRUEX JR., NO. 78 FURNITURE ROW/VISSER PRECISION CHEVROLET SS – Qualified 2nd:
“A good pit stall is really important here, obviously. We qualified third here in the spring. Honestly I didn’t know we had a car that was that fast today. We stuck with it. The guys did a good job making adjustments there, and we got quicker each round. That’s what you’ve got to do. It’s a good starting spot for tomorrow and we’ll see what we can do with it. We’re looking forward to it.”

AJ ALLMENDINGER, NO. 47 KROGER/CLOROX CHEVROLET SS – Qualified 3rd
YOU GUYS HAD A GREAT QUALIFYING SESSION, WHAT WAS THE SECRET?
“Well my guys fixed all my mess-ups.  I hit the wall four times in a row in practice and that was the biggest thing.  I thought we had a good car, I just kept trying to destroy it.  They did a good job and you know Burns and Palmer and my guys and especially Todd (Parrot) coming in has made us better these last few races.   I have always liked this place and have always been pretty good here.  Hopefully it’s a good start to a really good weekend.”

JEFF GORDON, NO. 24 AARP MEMBER ADVANTAGES CHEVROLET SS – Qualified 5th:
‘I don’t think anybody had a shot at Joey (Logano), really. He’s in a league of his own and he has been here, qualifying all year. But we wanted to make a big effort at it and I felt like we did. The first two rounds went exactly as planned and it didn’t feel too bad there (round 3), but just lacked a little bit of speed. When you go to three rounds it really changes things dramatically, trying to save tires and see how hard you can push it and keeping up with the balance. I thought we executed really well and came up a little bit short.:

KEVIN HARVICK, NO. 4 OUTBACK STEAKHOUSE CHEVROLET SS – Qualified 12th
“We were just too tight.”

DALE EARNHARDT, JR., NO. 88 NATIONWIDE CHEVROLET SS – Qualified 22nd
ON HIS QUALIFYING EFFORT: “The first round I was real happy with the car.  The second round we didn’t have any grip.  I don’t know.  Made some bad adjustments I guess, but the car just didn’t have any grip.”

ON HIS CAR FOR THE RACE:
“We are going to race good.  We don’t ever qualify good here, we just keep shooting ourselves in the foot.”

KASEY KAHNE, NO. 5 GREAT CLIPS CHEVROLET SS – Crashed in Turns 1 & 2 during first round Qualifyied 24th
WHAT HAPPENED?
“First two laps felt okay, but I felt that I needed more speed so I held it out too late, turned in.  It broke and I lifted off the throttle, like everything at once.  It wheel-hopped it and its totally screwed up.  We had a good Great Clips Chevrolet in practice and I knew it was just a matter of doing it right.”
