CASSILL HOPES TO SHINE IN VALLEY OF SUN

AVONDALE, Ariz. – Landon Cassill hopes to close out the Xfinity Series season with solid finishes over the next two weeks, beginning with Saturday’s DAV 200 Honoring America’s Veterans at Phoenix International Raceway.

The season will end Nov. 21 at Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida.

Cassill finished 37th in the spring race at Phoenix after an accident near the race’s halfway mark sent him to the garage.

“We always have great cars at Phoenix,” Cassill said. “We never really had a chance to show what we could do in the spring. We’re looking for much more this week.”

Cassill has raced in Sprint Cup nine times and Xfinity seven at PIR. He finished sixth in an Xfinity race at the track in 2008.

He enters Saturday’s 200-mile race 18th in Xfinity points.

Practice is scheduled at PIR at 3:30 p.m. (ET) and 5 p.m. Friday. Qualifying is set for 12:45 p.m. Saturday, with the race to follow at 4.
