Crew Chief:    Phil Gould

ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Daytona

Ryan Reed has four starts in the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) at Daytona International Speedway (DIS). In this race last year, Reed captured his first NXS win after starting eighth, leading 14 laps and making a last-lap pass for the victory. In his other three starts at DIS, Reed finished 18th, fourth  and 13th after starting 39th, fourth, and eighth, respectively.

Double Duty

Reed has the chance to capture two victories at DIS this weekend with his participation in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) NextEra Energy 250 on Friday night and the NXS Powershares QQQ 300 on Saturday afternoon. On Friday night, Reed will be behind the wheel of the No. 58 Ford F-150 for Lira Motorsports. Reed has one previous start in the NCWTS in 2012 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, where he finished 17th.

The Cause

For the third straight season, Roush Fenway Racing partners with Lilly Diabetes and the American Diabetes Association on the Drive to Stop Diabetes program to field the No. 16 Ford for Reed in the NXS. Reed, who was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes in 2011, continues to serve as an ambassador to the diabetes community by raising awareness through his on-track performance and his community involvement.

2015 Recap

Reed finished his sophomore season in the NXS with a 10th-place finish in the championship standings. He earned his first career win in the season-opener at DIS.  He led a total of 16 laps for the season and netted an average finish of 16.8, competing in all 33 races. Reed also won two ARCA Racing Series events in 2015 for Lira Motorsports.

100th Start for Phil Gould

In 2016, Reed teams up with veteran crew chief Phil Gould. When the green flag drops in Daytona, Gould will mark his 100th race as a NXS crew chief. The Kendall Park, N.J. native’s NASCAR career spans more than 15 years as a mechanic, car chief, and crew chief for some of NASCAR’s top teams and drivers. Gould joined Roush Fenway in 2015 as the crew chief for Elliott Sadler, earning four top-five and 17 top-10 finishes, ultimately finishing the year sixth in the NXS standings.

Reed on Daytona

“There’s definitely a ton of pressure heading into Daytona as the defending winner and as I kick off my third year in the XFINITY Series. I couldn’t be more ready and confident with what we’ve built in the off season. This is the most excited I have seen everybody at Roush Fenway and the most unified the team has been since I have been here. We have the right people in place to have a breakout year and not only win some races, but also contend for a championship.”
