Bayne Finishes 12th in the First Duel 150 at Daytona

Daytona Beach, Fla. (Feb. 18, 2016) – Trevor Bayne, driver of the No. 6 AdvoCare Ford Fusion, recorded a 12th-place finish in Thursday night’s first Can-Am Duel 150 qualifying race at Daytona International Speedway.

“Tonight was all about learning,” said Bayne after the race. “It was about shaking all the rust off. Hitting your marks on pit road and making sure that we brought this AdvoCare Ford home in one piece for the 500. I feel like we learned a lot tonight and I’m ready to see what we can do on Sunday.”

Bayne began the 60-lap qualifying event from the 22nd position after moving to the rear of the field for the start of the race after a post-qualifying adjustment. From the drop of the green, Bayne and his Roush Fenway Racing teammates Greg Biffle and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. opted to ride in the back of the pack to avoid any potential trouble. The Knoxville, Tenn. native maintained his track position and continued to work well with his teammates until the first and only caution of the evening came out on Lap 42.

Bayne took the ensuing restart from the 12th position and battled three-wide for several laps before racing his way into the top 10. After racing hard in the closing stages of the event, Bayne would cross the finish line for the final time in 12th.

With the result, Bayne will take the green flag for the 58th running of “The Great American Race” from the 23rd position.
