ADVANCE NOTES
Stenhouse at Kansas Speedway
Stenhouse has six NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) starts at Kansas Speedway with an average starting position of 14.3 and average finishing position of 19.8.
Stenhouse knows how to get to victory lane at Kansas. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. overcame being two laps down with less than a 100 laps remaining to persevere to claim his sixth win of the 2012 NASCAR XFINITY season at Kansas Speedway.
Last time at Kansas
After battling back from one lap down, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. restarted ninth on the final green-white-checkered attempt but newer tires prevailed forcing Stenhouse to settle with a 13th-place finish.
Zest
Zest is currently in its fifth season as a primary partner in the NSCS for Roush Fenway. They have spent all five years on the No. 17 machine; one year with Matt Kenseth and four years with Stenhouse.
Stenhouse Jr. on racing at Kansas:
“Kansas is a fast, smooth track and is a lot of fun to race at night. So far this season, we’ve been strong on the intermediate tracks so I think we should have another solid performance in our Zest Ford. Lately it seems that we haven’t gotten the finish we deserved so hopefully this weekend that will change.”
Nick Sandler on racing at Kansas:
“Kansas is a fast, smooth 1.5-mile track. The tires usually don’t wear so pit strategy becomes a factor because you want to minimize the amount of time you are on pit road. We’ve had some solid runs this season at other intermediate tracks so I’m looking for the same result this weekend. We’ve fallen back in the point standings so we need to have a strong finish so we can get back inside the top-16.”
