XFINITY Series Regular B.J. McLeod Stays In The Saddle At Kansas Speedway

KANSAS CITY, KS (May 4, 2016) – – With the NASCAR XFINITY Series (NXS) enjoying a much deserved weekend off, B.J. McLeod decided to stay in the seat and partake in Friday night’s NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) Toyota Tundra 250 at Kansas Speedway.

McLeod, driver of the No. 78 B.J. McLeod Motorsports Ford Mustang in the XFINITY Series has partnered with Bobby Dotter’s SS Green Light Racing team for the 167-lap race on Friday night, piloting the No. 07 SS Green Light Racing Chevrolet Silverado in the fourth race of the 2016 season.

The 32-year-old McLeod will utilize Friday night’s race to keep him in race mode, but also embrace an opportunity to acquire some much needed laps at the 1.5-mile speedway ahead of the XFINITY Series visit to the Land of Oz this fall.

“I couldn’t take a weekend off,” McLeod joked. “Anyone that knows me knows I enjoy being at the track all the time. Bobby (Dotter, truck owner) and I have a great friendship and the opportunity was presented for us to work together and have some fun. That’s exactly what we’re going to do.”

McLeod, a native of Wauchula, Florida made one of his 10 starts on the tour last year at Kansas Speedway, but finished 28th after an early race setback. In 30 starts overall, he has a best finish of 15th at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway.

“Kansas is a good place, a fast track,” added McLeod. “We had some misfortune, so we weren’t able to run the whole race last year, but this weekend the SS Green Light Racing guys have done a great job preparing our No. 07 Chevrolet and make sure it’s ready to go.

“It’s been a while since the truck guys have been on the track, but Jason (Miller, crew chief) assured me that we have a good opportunity for a solid finish on Friday night, so that’s all we can ask for.”

While McLeod doesn’t have any other NASCAR Camping World Truck Series races lined up for the future, he is planning to make the best of the chance at hand.

“Look, I appreciate every chance I get to sit behind the wheel of a race car, whether it’s a truck, an XFINITY Series car or Late Model. It’s a blessing to be able to do this. I’m looking forward to a relaxed weekend at the track, but an opportunity to have some fun and for sure bring home a good finish to SS Green Light Racing and their partners.”
