Biffle Rebounds from Flat Tire to Finish 25th at Kansas

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (Oct. 16, 2016) – Greg Biffle was making gains Sunday at Kansas Speedway in his No. 16 FordPass Ford when a flat tire sent him to pit road under green. The tire cost Biffle valuable track position, but in the closing laps he was poised to get back on the lead lap. The much needed caution didn’t come and Biffle was left with a 25th-place finish.

Biffle started the race from the 22nd position Sunday afternoon at Kansas Speedway. Over the opening run Biffle reported back to his team that his No. 16 FordPass Ford was a little too loose to run the top and tight in traffic. A wedge adjustment on the first pit stop seemed to help with handling, but as the laps continued the No. 16 continued to lose rear grip.

The loose handling conditions continued and Biffle lost a lap to the leaders. In an effort to stretch fuel mileage and gain some track position the team was waiting as long as possible to make their routine green flag pit stop. Unfortunately, the right rear tire went flat due to a rub and sent Biffle down pit road before their fuel run ended.

An untimely caution came out just a few laps later, trapping Biffle down two laps. With the help of the wave around and some fuel saving Biffle was in position to be the “lucky dog” recipient as the race winded down. The much needed caution to claim the “lucky dog” never fell and Biffle was left with a 25th-place finish.
