ADVANCE NOTES

Reed at Phoenix

Ryan Reed will make his seventh NASCAR XFINITY Series start at Phoenix International Raceway this weekend.  In his six previous starts at the one-mile track, Reed’s best finish of 13th came in the spring of 2015.  In this event last season, Reed started 20th and finished 23rd.

The Chase

Following Saturday night’s NXS race at Phoenix, the Chase will be trimmed to four drivers heading into the season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.  Reed enters this weekend’s race sixth on the NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase grid, just five points out of fourth place.

Texas Recap

Reed and the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association team earned a top-15 finish at Texas Motor Speedway, crossing the finish line in 12th.  The finish keeps Reed within striking distance in the NXS Chase approaching this weekend’s cutoff race at Phoenix.

#IDriveMyHealth Paint Scheme

Throughout the course of the 2016 season, Ryan Reed and the Drive to Stop DiabetesSM program have encouraged fans to share on social media the ways that they stay healthy and active using #IDriveMyHealth.

This weekend at Phoenix International Raceway, Reed’s No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford Mustang will feature a special #IDriveMyHealth paint scheme, highlighting those fan submissions.

“There’s so much that goes into successfully managing your health and managing diabetes,” said Reed.  “It’s so cool to see the different ways that people stay active and healthy, and I’m excited to feature them on our No. 16 Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association Ford this weekend.  With November being American Diabetes Month®, it’s a great time to draw extra attention to the #IDriveMyHealth program.”

American Diabetes Month

November 1st officially kicks off American Diabetes Month and the American Diabetes Association’s 2016 campaign, This Is DiabetesTM.

This year’s campaign captures the authenticity of people who understand diabetes best, by inviting them to share a glimpse of their lives on social media using #ThisIsDiabetes.

Roush Fenway Racing and Reed will support the cause in a variety of ways.  Reed and all Roush Fenway Fords will carry a special C-Post decal all month long, highlighting that November is American Diabetes Month.

Roush Fenway, Reed Ink Multi-Year Renewal with Lilly Diabetes

Roush Fenway Racing has signed a multi-year renewal agreement for driver Ryan Reed to continue to pilot the No. 16 Lilly Diabetes Ford Mustang in the NASCAR XFINITY Series. Reed, who five years ago was told he would never race again after being diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes, qualified for the 2016 inaugural XFINITY Series Chase and scored his first victory in the series last season at Daytona.

2016 Season

Reed ranks sixth on the NASCAR XFINITY Series Chase Grid after 31 races, just five points out of fourth. He has recorded one top-five and six top-10 finishes, led eight laps for the season and has recorded an average finish of 15.9.

Reed on Phoenix

“We definitely have some work to do this weekend, but we have nothing to lose,” said Reed.  “We will do everything we can to put ourselves in a position to win this race and secure a spot in the Chase heading into Homestead.  I’m really proud of our entire Lilly Diabetes/American Diabetes Association team and am expecting a good race on Saturday.”

Tune-in

Reed and the rest of the NASCAR XFINITY Series will take the green flag from Phoenix on Saturday, November 13 at 7:30 p.m. ET on NBCSN.
