ADVANCE NOTES

Stenhouse at Kansas Speedway

Stenhouse has 11 Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) starts at Kansas Speedway with an average starting position of 14.3 and average finishing position of 18.4.

Stenhouse knows how to get to victory lane at Kansas. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. overcame being two laps down with less than a 100 laps remaining to persevere to claim his sixth win of the 2012 NASCAR XFINITY season at Kansas Speedway.

Last time at Kansas

Shortly after taking the wave around to get back on the lead lap with 31 laps remaining, the caution waved allowing Stenhouse to pit for four fresh tires and splash of fuel. The No. 17 Ford lined up in the 13th position for the final 25-lap shootout. On the restart, Stenhouse was able to slide thru as a multi-car accident occurred ahead of him.

After the red flag was lifted, Stenhouse lined up in the 10th position for the final nine laps but lost one spot forcing him to settle with an 11th-place finish.

Recapping Talladega

Despite going a lap down early due to making a shock change under caution, Ricky Stenhouse Jr. and the No. 17 Team rallied back to score a third-place finish in Sunday’s Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series (MENCS) race at Talladega Superspeedway.

On the Car

Fastenal is currently in its seventh season as a primary partner in the MENCS for Roush Fenway. They spent three years on the No. 99 before jumping over to the No. 17 entry, and were the primary partner on the No. 60 XFINITY team that captured the owner’s championship in 2011.

Stenhouse Jr. on racing at Kansas:

“Kansas is a fast, smooth track, and I enjoy racing there. Kansas has been a good track for us in the past. We’ve scored two top-10 finishes the past two weeks so hopefully we can continue that streak. Our main goal is to finish the season strong and carry that momentum into the off-season.”
