AAA Texas 500 – Sunday, November 4 at 3 p.m. ET on NBCSN, PRN
ADVANCE NOTES
Bayne at Texas Motor Speedway
· Bayne returns to Texas Motor Speedway for the 17th time in his Monster Energy NASCAR Series (MENCS) career this weekend, a track he’s won at before in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, and a place of recent success with three top-15s in his last five starts.
· His 17th start on Sunday will mark Texas the most run track on the circuit for Bayne, ahead of Daytona and Talladega, where he has 16 Cup starts each.
· Bayne’s Cup career began in Fort Worth back in 2010 when he made his debut with the Wood Brothers finishing 17th. Since, he’s led 16 laps and recorded eight top-20 finishes at Texas.
· Despite an average result of 22.6, Bayne has tallied three finishes inside the top-15 in the last five events. He crossed the line 15th in the 2016 spring race, 13th last spring, and most recently 12th this spring after rolling off 13th.
· Texas is the site of Bayne’s first victory in the NASCAR Xfinity Series, which came on November 5, 2011, after he started 10th and held off Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards for the win.
· In nine starts at Texas in the Xfinity Series, Bayne has one victory, an average starting position of 9.3 and 25 laps led. Bayne was the race leader in his most recent start at Texas in Nov. 2014 before a flat-tire ended his afternoon early.
Last Time at Texas
· Bayne was collected in two multi-car accidents in a wild spring race at Texas back in April, but was able to salvage a 12th-place finish, his second-best result of the 2018 season.
Matt Puccia at Texas Motor Speedway
· Puccia will call his 15th MENCS event at Texas on Sunday afternoon. In 14 previous races in the Lone Star State, Puccia has recorded one victory, three top-five finishes and five top-10 finishes.
· Puccia’s victory came in the April 2012 event with former Roush Fenway driver Greg Biffle. Biffle started from the third position and led 90 laps en route to the win.
QUOTE WORTHY
Bayne on racing at Texas:
“Texas has always been a favorite of mine to go to, especially given the personal memories for me there. The Wood Brothers gave me my first start there back in 2010, and a year later we went to victory lane in the Xfinity Series, which was also a first. Despite a wild race in the spring, we came home 12th, one of our better performances of the year. I’m looking forward to the weekend and getting on track in our AdvoCare Rehydrate Ford.”
Recapping Martinsville
Matt Kenseth battled an ill-handling car last weekend, before finishing 23rd at Martinsville Speedway.
On the Car
Bayne will once again run the colors of AdvoCare Rehydrate this weekend, a scheme that promotes AdvoCare’s electrolyte drink that Bayne and the No. 6 team use each weekend at the track.
