Edwards Leads Roush Fenway at New Hampshire; Retakes Sprint Cup Point Lead

LOUDON, N.H. (July 17, 2011) – Roush Fenway Racing’s Carl Edwards did what he had to do in the waning laps of Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, saving fuel, while bringing his No. 99 Ortho Ford home in 13th position. The result saw Edwards reclaim the Sprint Cup point lead. With 19 races in the books in 2011, Edwards leads second- place Jimmie Johnson by seven points.

David Ragan finished 14th, Greg Biffle was 18th and Matt Kenseth finished 20th, in a race that once again came down to fuel mileage. Kenseth is now sixth in the points (with two wins), David Ragan moved up two spots to 13th (with one win) and Biffle is 15th.

The Sprint Cup Series returns to action in two weeks for the Brickyard 400 at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Roush Fenway has 14 top fives (including three runner-up finishes) and 27 top 10s at Indy.
