Bristol Motor Speedway
IRWIN TOOLS NIGHT RACE
NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Sprint Cup Post-Qualifying Quotes
BRAD KESELOWSKI (No. 2 Miller Lite Dodge Charger R/T) Qualified 8th “Anytime you can start in the top 10 at Bristol, that’s a good place to be and think you can have a shot at winning the race from there. We’ve got a good Dodge Charger. We’re pretty good in race trim. We went back-and-forth on a few things; so we’ll see how everything works out Saturday night.”
KURT BUSCH (No. 22 Shell/Pennzoil Dodge Charger R/T) Qualified 10th “The track really changed with the overcast conditions. There was actually a few drops (rain) falling when we went out. When we were practicing, it was hot and slick with a lot of rubber on the race track. We were tight in qualifying practice and ended up loose for qualifying. The pole is a 62 and we’re at a 69, it’s that close. When you know you can’t quite go for full throttle, you know somebody else already did and is going to beat you. We were a little on the loose side.
“In the race, we’re going to need the cooler conditions like this because we were tight at the apex in race conditions, but overall, we’re not too far off.”
ROBBY GORDON (No. 7 SPEED Energy Dodge Charger R/T) Qualified 39th “To be in this position (having to qualify on speed) is nerve wrecking, but I’m going to come back on the other side and say for us, we need to figure out how to run better, period. No ifs, ands or buts about it. If we continue to do the same thing we do every week, we’re going to have the same results. I made a lot of changes at the shop last week and we’re going to continue to make changes because we have to run better. We’re happy we have the SPEED Energy Dodge in the show.”
