NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Race 17 of 25 – Atlanta Motor Speedway

BOWYER’S BACK: Clint Bowyer will return to the driver seat of the No. 2 Bad Boy Buggies Chevrolet Sliverado this Friday for his fourth NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start of the season, as the series heads to Georgia for the Atlanta 200. The Friday night race will be Bowyer’s second Truck Series appreanace at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The Emporia, Kan., native made his Atlanta Truck Series debut in 2007 in a Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) prepared machine and drove to a fifth-place finish after starting the race from the 12th position.

WELCOME BACK BAD BOY BUGGIES: Bay Boy Buggies will rejoin KHI and Bowyer in Atlanta for their third Truck Series race of the season. The company made their Truck Series season debut back in May at Dover International Speedway with KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick behind the wheel. In June, Bowyer took the Georgia-based company to victory lane at his home track, Kansas Speedway, and hopes to give the company a victory at their home track this Friday night in Atlanta.

NOT JUST RACING FOR PEACHES: Eight different drivers have competed in a Truck Series event at Atlanta Motor Speedway in KHI equipment over the last seven seasons. With 18 starts at the 1.54-mile oval, KHI has collected 3 poles (2010, 2008 and 2007), 3 wins (2010, 2008 and 2005), nine top-five and 11 top-10 finishes. The company has been credited with leading 465 laps at the track.

CHASSIS HISTORY: Crew chief Bruce Cook and the No. 2 Bad Boy Buggies crew will unload chassis No. 061 this Friday evening to race under the lights at Atlanta. This chassis was newly built for competition this season and will be making its on-track debut this weekend.

PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: KHI co-owner Kevin Harvick climbed behind the wheel of the No. 2 Hunt Brothers Pizza Chevrolet Silverado for the third-consecutive week of competition as the Truck Series made its way to Bristol Motor Speedway last Wednesday evening. Coming off back-to-back wins, Harvick started the O’Reilly Auto Parts 200 in the sixth position before patiently making his way to the front of the field. The veteran driver worked to conserve fuel during the second half of the 200-lap event allowing him to drive to victory lane for a third-consecutive Truck Series win.

BOWYER’S THOUGHTS ON ATLANTA:

What are your thoughts heading into the race at Atlanta Motor Speedway?

“There is nothing like racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway. Racing in Atlanta is definitely dirt tracking on a fast 1.5-mile asphalt race track. You’re sideways, you’re balancing. Everything you do on dirt you have to do at Atlanta and do it well. If don’t do it well you’re going to be in the wall. The track is so fast and so slick, racing there is a feeling like no other. Atlanta is a lot of fun and very challenging and I can’t wait to get back there.”
