Motor Racing Network Resumes ‘Chase’ Coverage at Talladega

CONCORD, N.C. (October 21, 2011) – This year’s Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup is set to begin its second half and Motor Racing Network – “The Voice of NASCAR” – resumes its coverage of the title series as part of a broadcast doubleheader from Talladega Superspeedway.

The MRN headliner this weekend will be Sunday’s Good Sam Club 500 from Talladega, Ala., the sixth stop of this year’s 10-race Chase.  There have been four different winners through the first half of the post-season … most recently Matt Kenseth last weekend at Charlotte Motor Speedway.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series teams also are competing in Talladega with Saturday’s Coca-Cola 250 Powered by fred’s, where Kyle Busch will be going for his third straight victory on the 2.66-mile oval.

MRN’s live race broadcasts from Talladega Superspeedway will be anchored by Barney Hall and Joe Moore, and produced by Amanda Trautman.  Dave Moody, Mike Bagley and Jeff Striegle will cover the turns; with Alex Hayden, Steve Post and Woody Cain patrolling pit road.

Sunday’s broadcast is the next-to-last opportunity for fans to enter the MRN-Ford Championship Weekend Flyaway.  One grand prize winner and a guest will receive a complete VIP race experience for Ford Championship Weekend Nov. 18-20 at Homestead-Miami Speedway.  That includes airfare, hotel accommodations and ground transportation during race weekend in South Florida – where NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series teams have all run their final races of the season since 2002.

The promotion is helping Ford commemorate its 110th year in racing. Fans can visit www.MotorRacingNetwork.com/Ford and enter the name of the highest-running Ford driver at Lap 110.   The promotion ends Nov. 1 following the TUMS Fast Relief 500 at Martinsville Speedway.  The deadline to enter is 11:59 p.m. (EDT) each Tuesday after the next two MRN race broadcasts.

Following Sunday’s stop in Talladega, MRN Radio will provide live coverage of three of the remaining four Chase races: Oct. 30 at Martinsville, Nov. 13 at Phoenix International Raceway and Nov. 20 at Homestead-Miami Speedway – where the 63rd Sprint Cup Series champion will be crowned following the Ford 400.

Air time for Saturday’s Camping World Truck Series race from Talladega is 3:45 p.m. (EDT), with Sunday’s coverage of the Good Sam Club 500 starting at 1 p.m.  Five-time champion Jimmie Johnson will be going for a season sweep on the sprawling Alabama oval, having won the year’s first stop there April 17.
