RAB Racing and Kenny Wallace Continue to Push Forward

CONCORD, N.C. (March 7, 2012) – In response to the recent news concerning the welfare of RAB Racing with Brack Maggard, team owner Robby Benton is looking ahead, and reaffirming the team’s commitment to fielding entries in the NASCAR Nationwide Series and Camping World Truck Series.

“As a NASCAR race team, we are faced with the obstacle of procuring the proper sponsorship to be able to field a strong, competitive, marketable team,” said Benton. “We are committed to our current driver, Kenny Wallace, for as many events that we can find sponsorship for. Although we are facing an immediate lack of sponsorship over the next few races, we are fortunate to have events sponsored later in the season with Kenny as the driver.

“We, as a team, have committed to keep Kenny in our No. 09 Toyota for the next few races, regardless of sponsorship. We will get to a point, should substantial progress in our sponsorship hunt not be made, that we may take the opportunity to pair up with someone who has aligned themselves with a sponsor that could benefit from becoming a part of the RAB Racing team, and becoming a teammate to Kenny Wallace. We’ve had an interest in expanding to a multi-car team, and if we get to a point where we put another driver in our car and find additional marketing partners interested in Kenny, this could lead us in that direction.”

Wallace has recorded 11 top-10 finishes since he joined RAB Racing as the driver of the team’s Nationwide Series efforts at the beginning of the 2011 season. A nine-time race winner, Wallace has been named the series’ most popular driver three times, most recently in 2006.

“We are searching every hour of every day for sponsorship for RAB Racing,” said Wallace. “If I can’t drive Toyota Camrys for this team, then I want this team to stay strong, because I’ve got races scheduled for later in the year.

“I’m extremely passionate about my NASCAR career. I think we’ve shown that both in leading laps at Daytona, and qualifying third at Phoenix. So, it’s hard on me to just get out of the seat. I’m not ready to hang it up yet. After running as well as we have, it’s very hard on me to just get out of the seat and hand it over to someone else.”

“Kenny is very passionate about our sport and we look forward to keeping him in the driver’s seat as much as possible until he decides to retire on his own terms,” Benton continued. “While the finishing results show that we’re off to a rough start, our on-track performance is at an all time high. We led laps and ran in the top-10 all day at Daytona and qualified third at Phoenix, but fell victim to a tire failure midway through the race.

“We believe that it’s only a matter of time and tactics that some future partners will see the exceptional value of partnering with RAB Racing and Kenny Wallace.

“Kenny has a very broad following through his social network mediums, boasting over 91,000 followers on Twitter alone. That, paired with his SPEED Channel presence as a host on “RACEDAY”, fan popularity and solid on-track performance should prove to be a worthy list of ingredients.

“We will continue making sound business decisions as we work toward our continued growth in NASCAR.”
