Wright Battles Adversity at The Magic Mile
Kris Wright finished 34th Saturday at New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) after contact late in the race resulted in heavy damage to the No. 81 Warranty Solutions Chevrolet Silverado RST. Wright started 28th and initially moved forward after starting at the rear of the field due to a brake issue.
The Pittsburgh, Pa. native finished Stage 1 30th, one lap down, after running as high as 27th during the opening stage. The team continued working on the balance, with Wright reporting the truck was loose entering the corners and tight through the center. He posted the third fastest lap in the field on lap 64. Wright moved to 29th on the lap 82 restart to begin Stage 2. He eventually settled into 32nd and finished the stage two laps down as the team continued making tire pressure and trackbar adjustments.
Wright was running 31st on the restart to begin the final stage before being collected in an incident on lap 120. The contact caused heavy damage to the front of the truck, and Wright restarted 33rd, seven laps down. The team continued working on the Warranty Solutions Chevrolet throughout the closing laps. The No. 81 team made repairs and briefly returned Wright on track before retiring early with a 34th-place finish.
Kris Wright Quote:
“Really proud of this team for working on the truck and fixing the balance from practice yesterday. We just struggled to get the truck to roll in the center and turn four was a battle for us all day. I’d like to thank Warranty Solutions for supporting us this weekend and we’ll shift gears, take these three off-weeks to work on stuff, and come back ready to close out the final seven races.
